VocaDial is blocked at my school

Getting started

VocaDial opens at home but not at school? It is almost always the school’s web filter, run by the school’s IT service or by the local authority. A new tool is often blocked simply because the filter does not know it yet: all it takes is a request to allow it.

Find out what is blocked

  • Only the app (app.vocadial.com), or the website too (vocadial.com)?
  • Nothing opens at all, or the page loads but the projection does not start?
  • On one computer only, or on every computer in the school?
  • If a block page appears, take a screenshot: it often shows the name of the filter and the reason for the block.

Ask for it to be allowed

The request usually goes through the school’s digital lead or the senior leadership team, who contact the IT support. You can forward them this message:

Please allow VocaDial on the school’s teaching network. It is used in modern foreign language lessons (a start-of-lesson routine projected on the board). Two addresses are enough: app.vocadial.com (the app) and vocadial.com (the website). For the optional video tutorials in the help centre: YouTube (www.youtube-nocookie.com). The site loads no third-party resources (no ads, no trackers, fonts hosted on the site) and runs over HTTPS (port 443).

Or let us handle it

Write to support from Vera’s bubble, at the bottom right of the screen. Tell us your school and, if you have it, the contact details of the digital lead or the IT support: we will get in touch with them for you, and keep you posted until VocaDial works in your classroom.

In the meantime, you can set up your classes and rituals from home: everything will be ready the day access opens.
