VocaDial receives no surname and no first name of any pupil: each pupil has a personal code, and only you know who it belongs to. There are two ways to create the codes.
- In the class, open “Students and slips”, then “Create the class codes”.
- Answer “Do you already have a VocaDial file?”: “Yes” to read it, “No” if this is the first time.
- Choose your method:
- Import my pupil list (recommended): first names and surnames, from a CSV file (Excel, Pronote…) or pasted. Your browser reads them, works out a short name for each (“Léa M.”, “Léa Mo.” when two pupils share a first name), links them to the codes and gives you an encrypted file. The wheel, the draw, speaking time and the seating plan then show real first names. No name ever goes to VocaDial.
- Create the codes without a list: you only say how many pupils there are (60 at most per class). The tools show “Student 1”, “Student 2”… and you write the names by hand on the printed attendance sheet.
Then print “The list of codes” (the attendance sheet) and “The slips to cut out”, and hand out the slips: each pupil signs in with the class code and their own code.
Codes are never shown in the pupil list, which may be projected: “Show” reveals a code for five seconds. An imported list is your responsibility: VocaDial does not read it over.
