The notebook is a single encrypted file that keeps, on your device, your pupils’ first names (all your classes) and their link with the codes. It is called “vocadial-carnet-YYYY-MM-DD.txt”: the date tells you which one is the latest.
- It is made in your browser and saved by you. VocaDial never receives it and keeps no copy.
- It is protected by your VocaDial account: it only opens once you are signed in. You choose no passphrase and have nothing to remember.
- Keep it wherever you like: USB stick, computer disk, your school’s storage. A lost stick cannot be read without your account.
- If you delete your VocaDial account, your files become permanently unreadable.
- For what you print (attendance sheet, slips), you can choose the full name in “My notebook”; on the board and in the tools, the class only ever sees the short name.
- For each student it keeps the first name and the surname, in case you ever need them: they stay encrypted on your device and are never sent to VocaDial. If you do not want them, “My notebook” lets you erase the surnames.
“Settings”, then “My notebook”, shows whether your file is up to date. A reminder appears on “My classes” until you have saved the file of a class created with a list.
First names are personal data for which you are responsible: keep the file somewhere safe.
